About

Cemeteries are more than resting places. They are living records of our communities, quietly holding the stories of generations past. But across Newfoundland and Labrador, many of these historic spaces are in danger. They suffer from neglect, from harsh weather, and sometimes from well-meaning but harmful attempts to clean them up.

In this session, Heritage NL’s Andrea O’Brien will guide us through the right way to care for historic cemeteries. She will share practical advice for cleaning, repairing, and maintaining headstones and landscapes with respect and knowledge. This session is perfect for volunteers, municipal staff, or anyone who cares about preserving local history.

Join us for a practical and thoughtful conversation about how to protect these sacred places so they can continue to speak for those who came before us.
