Rob Nolan

CEO, MNL

Rob Nolan is passionate about municipal affairs and governance, serving on the Board of Directors for Happy City St. John’s 2015-2020 (including two years as Chair), co-founding the municipal advocacy group Citizens’ Assembly for Stronger Elections in 2017, and managing and advising on multiple municipal campaigns.

Rob holds an MBA and Master of Arts from Memorial University, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Policy and Governance from University of Victoria.

During his Master of Arts studies in Political Science, Rob completed a thesis on local governance in Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition to municipal affairs, Rob is passionate about climate action and contributed to the Generation SDG Summit and Blueprint led by the Waterloo Global Science Initiative in 2018.

Before joining MNL as CEO, Rob Nolan spent more than 10 years in senior roles at Memorial University, most recently as Senior Planning Analyst.

Amy Henderson

Executive Director, Business and Arts NL

As Executive Director of Business & Arts NL for a decade, Amy has been a leading voice in championing capacity-building programs for arts organizations and strategic partnerships between business and arts in Newfoundland and Labrador. Through her work, she champions the arts as a driver of innovation, resilience, and economic growth.

Kara Roberts

Kara Roberts is a Brand Strategist & Growth Marketing Consultant. She is also the founder of Agency E11even, a boutique creative brand marketing agency and community, based in Newfoundland and Labrador but serving clients nationally. She helps businesses grow through strategy-led content, community-first marketing, and creative execution. Her work is grounded in the belief that content is king, but community is queen and that knowing how and where to show up is just as important as what you post. Whether she’s acting as a fractional marketing lead, mapping out a launch strategy, or training a team in social media, Kara brings strategy, creativity, and real-world marketing expertise to the table.

Carole Spicer

A seasoned professional specializing in facilitation and training services, Carole R. Spicer brings extensive experience across private, public, and community sectors.

Carole has honed her expertise in creating dynamic and engaging learning environments.

As a certified master trainer, she excels in tailoring solutions to meet the unique needs of her clients at Spicer Facilitation, empowering individuals, governments, and organizations to achieve their goals collaboratively.

A natural storyteller, Carole draws upon her experiences to connect and build relationships, passionately supporting her family, heritage, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Residing in Pasadena, Newfoundland and Labrador with her husband Tim, and their cats Patches and Pepper, she serves as Chairperson of the Pasadena Heritage Society - NL Inc. and Secretary of the Pasadena Public Library Board.

In her free time, Carole enjoys snowshoeing, reading, swimming, and researching her family tree.

Tom Clift

Memorial University

Tom Clift is a longtime educator, researcher, and consultant with over 45 years of experience in marketing strategy, technology commercialization, and corporate governance. A cornerstone of Memorial University’s business community for more than 38 years, Tom has taught across multiple faculties, including Business, Engineering, and Human Kinetics. He also served two terms as Associate Dean (Academic) in the Faculty of Business Administration and continues to teach part-time following his retirement in 2019.

His research has earned international recognition, including an award from the American Marketing Association for his work on project complexity and product development. His publications have been cited more than 1,400 times in business, engineering, and sports marketing literature.

Tom has advised private industry, governments, and non-profits across Newfoundland and Canada. In 2009, he chaired a provincial industry committee to develop a revised strategy for the NL fishing industry. His consulting work has included projects for Air Canada, Destination St. John’s, Ultramar, and multiple large-scale retailers. He has also led several major sports-related studies, such as the Arena Expansion Plan for the Jack Byrne Centre and the SJCMA Four Pad Ice Rink Study.

Board governance has been a major focus of his career. Tom has held board positions with NALCOR Energy, Newfoundland Hydro, the Labrador Island Link Corporation, and the St. John’s AHL franchises. He also served as Vice-Chair of the National Board of BGC Canada.

Born and raised in Newfoundland, Tom holds degrees and certifications from Memorial University, Dalhousie, Western, and the University of Toronto, where he earned the ICD.D. designation in 2016. The Clift family has operated businesses in the province since 1810, including T. B. Clift Ltd. Today, Tom and his wife Anne live in Outer Cove and are proud parents to three daughters.
